Annotation of the Physcomitrella patens genome is running (2005-2006)

November 2004 - Swiss citizens have approved with an overwhelming majority (2 to 1) the new law allowing the use of embryonic stem cells for research. It is the second time that, with such large majority, the Swiss people demonstrates its support to the scientific community working in the area of biological research and biotechnology. Now (September 2005) a new campaign is starting involving a possible five year moratorium of GMO cultivation in Switzerland; follow the debate (in french) on www.ogm.ch .
